Each RAID level defines a different way to spread data across multiple drives. This usually requires a compromise between cost and speed. Understanding the differences between these levels is important, because each level is optimized for a different use.
RAID Level 0
Each of the eight processor unit or PU chips is characterized by IBM during installation or by customers at a later time. The most common characterizations are:
•Central processor, which is abbreviated CP. This type is for use with an operating system and user applications. Mainframe operating systems are sophisticated products with substantially different characteristics and purposes. One mainframe can run more than one operating system at the same.
